For Elora natives and visitors, you might find your new favourite Sunday brunch at a steakhouse.
The Badley Steakhouse & Bar opened its doors in 2022, after Swiss and South African/English couple Geoffrey and Dominique Wild took over the location of the old Metcalfe restaurant and gave it a complete overhaul. It is the only independently owned steakhouse in both Centre Wellington and the Kitchener/Waterloo/Cambridge area.
The Wilds have called Centre Wellington their home for many years, participating in charitable events and supporting local causes close to their heart.
The couple named their new restaurant The Badley because it looks over where the beloved Badley Bridge used to be. They kept pieces of the old steel bridge to have on display in the restaurant, and used other pieces to have a miniature replica of it made, which sits on the bar as an homage. The original blueprint of the bridge is also on display.
A frequent compliment from guests at The Badley is the excellent quality of the beef. Geoffrey grew up butchering meat in South Africa as a child, and prides himself and his team in procuring meat locally, butchering in-house, and in their “weird cuts that people don’t normally find,” says Geoffrey.
These include cuts like Denver steaks, oyster steaks, Delmonico steaks, and more. As head chef and a self-proclaimed perfectionist, Geoffrey trained his team to ensure all the butchering is done in house.
If visitors are in more of a brunch mood than a steak mood, The Badley has a Steakhouse Brunch, Unlimited Edition, available every Sunday from 10AM-3PM. It is an all-you-can-eat steakhouse brunch for $34 per person ($15 for kids 12 and under).
The extensive brunch menu is à la carte and mouth-watering. It starts off with a bread basket, with fresh baked butter croissants, bread rolls and savory cheese scones. The menu also includes burger sliders, omelettes, eggs your way, beer and cheese dip, steak and egg skillets, pancakes, and more.
Bottomless mimosas and Caesars are also available, as well as a salad bar, a cereal bar, a tea and coffee station and a fruit juice station.
The Badley has a large patio for the warmer months, so summertime brunches will be served in a beautiful outdoor setting. The restaurant also has activities booked for every night of the week, in addition to the weekly brunch.
- Monday - Specials Night
- Tuesday - Trivia Night
- Wednesday - Steak Night (steaks and premium wine special)
- Thursday - Magic Night with Kameron Marshall/Darts Night
- Friday - Live Music Night
