"I just wanted to say thank you for everything this season – our team had fun and my son can't wait for Fall ball hockey to start. Thanks to you, your team and to your team of officials. Great job and can't wait for Fall!"
That testimonial is just one of the many positive comments coming from parents, children, and other adults who have experienced a season playing ball hockey at the Royal City Ball Hockey facility in Guelph. As the area’s only indoor dedicated ball hockey rink, Royal City is local hub for players of all ages who love playing in competitive leagues at all levels.
And the game is growing – according to the Canadian Ball Hockey Association, ball hockey (a.k.a. street hockey) is now being played in 48 countries around the world because it’s so easy and fun to ply.
House league level programs like those offered at Royal City Ball Hockey are a great way to help kids learn and grow their skills as they play. Starting in September, the annual Fall program offers 12 weeks of Saturday play for all divisions except the U19 programs. That makes it easy for scheduling other family activities as all games in this program will be Saturday only.
For young players, Royal City Ball Hockey has been offering a safe, affordable and well-administered and structured environment to play Canada’s game. Volunteer coaches provide guidance and support to teams and players of all ages, teaching the values of sportsmanship, teamwork, and community. Since 2014, Royal City Ball Hockey Club has offered three year-round 12-week seasons at the facility, which is located at 133 Woodlawn Road East in the Guelph Golf Club.
While some ball hockey programs are played on concrete floor, the rink used by R/oyal City Ball Hockey Club features a dedicated sport tile floor which provides cushion support for running as well as an eight-foot seamless glass board. This makes it much easier on the knees and feet of young developing players and enhanced safety along the boards.
The Club is now accepting registrations right up until September 1st. League play starts September 7th, so now is the time to register interested youth in one of the many available programs.
