Longtime residents of Guelph and surrounding area who regularly enjoy breakfast dining may recall the popularity of Jesse’s, a local favourite located on Silvercreek Parkway. Owner Rod Pollock created a destination dining experience with an exceptional menu, great prices, and inviting service – along with a constant demand for one of his signature breakfast creations, the Potato Croquette.
While that location has changed, Pollock is still hosting hungry breakfast crowds at perhaps the most scenic restaurant location in the area, Jesse’s on the Green at Guelph Country Club. Here’s where you’ll find all the breakfast favourites Pollock was known for serving, including those irresistible Potato Croquettes, at a beautiful location offering relaxing views and verdant landscapes. It’s the kind of restaurant experience that makes the golf club popular with both golfers and diners.
Located at the convergence of the first, ninth, and 18th holes, Jesse’s is the perfect place to enjoy a full menu of exquisitely prepared and moderately priced weekend breakfast favourites.
“Regular visitors here truly appreciate the location given we have one of the most scenic patios in the area,” said Pollock, Director of Hospitality at The Guelph Country Club. “This is a destination location for people who want to enjoy weekend breakfast dining in a unique space. We definitely cater to those individuals who appreciate both good food and a great view.”
While the view of the course is certainly worth the drive, one look at the food Pollock is serving at Jesse’s and you can see why this hidden gem of a dining experience continues to draw such crowds on the weekend. Pollock has created a menu that is equally balanced with traditional breakfast fare and trendy temptations – everything from light favourites like Pico Avocado Toast/Pico De Gallo/Eggs to a full 8-ounce sirloin cooked to perfection and served with exceptional breakfast side dishes. Recently Jesse’s has added a new element to its breakfast experience, a made-to-order omelette station located on the patio that has quickly become a favourite choice of breakfast diners.
“We had someone this past weekend say it reminded them of being at a resort,” said Pollock, who oversees the operation but can still be found behind the grill on weekends. “They liked the fact they could get their omelette fresh and made with exactly what they wanted in it.”
The patio has become so popular for special occasions that Jesse’s on the Green has now implemented an exclusive breakfast buffet option for wedding parties. Wedding organizers can now reserve the entire patio and invite guests to join them the morning after the wedding for one final gathering.
“We have put together a specific buffet setting and built a menu that includes an omelette station, scrambled eggs, bacon, sausage, hash browns, fruit, charcuterie, pastries, and a coffee/tea/juice/water station,” explained Pollock. “The one we did this past weekend ran from 9am until noon. It let’s people mingle in and out in a casual atmosphere.”
