One of the unfortunate aspects of living through two years of COVID-19 restrictions is that many families who lost a loved one during that time were unable to gather at wakes and memorials to pay proper respects. Funeral homes and other venues were often limited to the number of people who could take part in such celebrations, leaving spouses, parents, extended family and friends to grieve without the comforting fellowship they needed to heal.
Now restrictions have eased, families who may have recently lost someone or who had previously been unable to host events are in the process of planning proper celebrations of life. For those considering their venue options, The Guelph Country Club wants you to know they offer an exceptional package for just such an occasion.
“We offer an easy option for families who haven’t had the opportunity to properly honour a loved one,” Rod Pollock, Director of Hospitality at Guelph Country Club and owner of Jesse’s on the Green. “I take care of everything. Once we secure the date you can wash your hands of this part of the planning.”
Pollock says the various packages available are especially beneficial to people who have recently lost someone and are struggling to deal with the burden of making all the related arrangements.
“They’re upset, they’re grieving, and it’s nice for them to not have to deal with those details and planning aspects. I like to ease their mind once they talk to me. They can then move on to the next steps in the process.”
As far as local venues go, The Guelph Country Club offers a serene and calming nature environment perfectly suited to hosting celebration of life events.
In terms of food, catering is handled by Jessie’s On The Green and includes a wide variety of charcuterie boards, sandwiches, vegetable platters, Swedish meatballs, wraps, and beverages.
The Guelph Country Club also provides necessary equipment including easels for memory boards, AV equipment for videos produced for the event, and proper lifts to ensure those with mobility issues or wheelchair needs can easily access the venue. Pollock adds there is also ample space at the club to host celebrations of all sizes.
“We’ve handled small and large events. I’ve done them for 15 people in the Heritage Room to more than 250 people where they take the whole upper space. It’s a big part of our business and we have everything covered. It’s a very fitting atmosphere for long time residents of Guelph. This place has been here as long as they have.”
