To set yourself apart in the restaurant industry, you must be unique.
Bistro Reunion is definitely unique with a welcoming, inviting space to enjoy time together with family, friends, and most important, great atmosphere & cuisine!
This uniquely designed culinary hotspot in tiny Morriston (south of Guelph) was established by owners Courtney and Mike Colas to appeal to a wide expanse of patrons – both those who tend to favour the familiar, to those with broader, more international appetites. Named after Reunion Island, a French Island located in the Mascarene Islands in the Indian Ocean, Bistro Reunion reflects the inspired tastes the Colas have developed in their vast experiences travelling the world in search of creative culinary ideas.
Opened in November 2022, at the tail end of the pandemic, Bistro Reunion offers customers something more than the typical standard fare found in franchised restaurant chains.
“We do something unique by offering a very European / World-style Bistro,” said Mike, who along with wife Courtney previously owned La Parisienne in Oakville. “Sometimes people like something familiar, which is understandable. But we also cater to those looking to try new things. Once people come in, taste our food, and get a feel for the atmosphere we’ve created, they wind up coming back and spreading the word, just like we did in Oakville.”
Creating an ambience that reflects the unique flavours offered on the menu is critical to the overall experience and Mike has applied his skills as a designer to create a unique old world elevated style interior at Bistro Reunion.
“This building was built in 1860, and it has a beautiful cellar that comes up to a patio,” he said. “It has an old school speakeasy vibe to it with all the stone and wood. The acoustics when we bring in live acts are incredible. The restaurant is only part of what this space offers. It’s a perfect combination of great cuisine, atmosphere with live music and a space for private functions and let’s not forget the countryside patio.”
“We have a well-crafted menu with just the right options,” said Mike, “That’s the way we like to keep it, quality over quantity. Too many places have too many items. You can’t do anything great if you try to do everything.”
That said, Bistro Reunion has something for everyone. That includes traditional favourites like their exceptional French Onion Soup, sliders, crepes, and salads, but it also includes some of the international dishes: Hanoi Braised Beef, Chef Yang’s Sweet and Sour Glazed Pork Belly, Seafood Crepe Gratinee, and a variety of curries offering Indian, Vietnamese, and Cambodian flavours.
Located just 15 minutes away from Cambridge, Guelph and Kitchener, 30 minutes from Halton Hills, Burlington and Hamilton and only an hour from Toronto, Reunion Bistro is the perfect place to meet over delicious food and drinks all in a beautiful and casual family-friendly dining environment.
