GUELPH MARLIN AQUATIC CLUB

The Guelph Marlin Aquatic Club (GMAC) showcased outstanding talent and determination at the WOSA Short Course Regional Championships this past weekend. With 45 qualified swimmers between the ages of 9 and 18 competing in their best events, the Marlins faced tough competition from 25 other teams in the western region.
The three-day meet marked the culmination of the short course season, as swimmers now shift their focus to long course racing for the remainder of the season. Despite the intense competition, the Marlins emerged as the 6th overall team in the Western region, a testament to their spirit, dedication and skill.
Numerous GMAC swimmers demonstrated remarkable achievements by attaining Festivals, OYJ, and OSC time standards, further gains for their own individual swims. This includes new to OYJ standard, athletes Nathan Huether and Jackson Stronach and Festivals standard achieved by Matthew Eddolls.
Present at the meet, Laura Nicholls and Pavlo Illichov, both former Olympians, were extremely proud as they reflected on their team's impressive performance. Looking forward, they are excited about the prospect of preparing the athletes for the upcoming WOSA Long Course Championship in Windsor this June, with goal of bringing together an even larger group of swimmers.
A smaller group of Marlins is set to represent the club at the upcoming Ontario Swimming Championships (OSC) at the Toronto Panam Sports Centre next weekend.
