A win, a loss and a tie left the Guelph Gryph Minor Bantams wondering would they have it in them to face two tough opponents during the semis and finals?
The weekend started out with a strong showing from our Gryphs with a 3-1 win over New Market. Saturday morning brought a sobering reality that wins do not always come easy as the Gryphs were stung by a strong St Thomas team with a 6-1 loss. Regrouped and refocused the Gryphs headed into an afternoon game with an equally strong Oakland team and managed to squeak out a tie game.
Sunday brought a snow storm and a tough day of competition. Not to be stung again, the Gryphs were fired up and ready to take on their archrivals, St Thomas, in the semis. Leaving nothing behind the Gryphs managed to dominate the game with a 3-1 win. This left our Canadian Gryphs facing the US Oakland Grizzlies in a showdown for the Cup. The Gryph’s Coaching Staff made sure the boys were focused and steered them on a clear path victory with a 2-0 win over the Grizzlies.
This is the second Tournament win for the Minor Bantam A’s this season!
