Yes, racing on the Hanlon Expressway is still a problem

Three drivers face racing charges, accused of driving more than 50 km/h over the speed limit

On April 29, 2018 a Wellington County Ontario Provincial Police officer was monitoring traffic on The Hanlon Expressway, Guelph. As a result, several drivers saw their vehicles impounded and licences seized after being caught exceeding the speed limit by more than 50 km/h.

At approximately 7:15 a.m., the officer observed a male driving a green sedan at a speed that appeared to be well above the posted 80 km/h speed limit. The vehicle was locked on radar in excess of 145 km/h, exceeding the posted speed limit by at least 60 km/h.

twenty-nine-year-old James Oladeinde of Guelph has been charged with racing a motor vehicle contrary to the Highway Traffic Act and is scheduled to appear in Guelph Provincial Court on June 20, 2018.

At approximately 8:10 a.m. an officer observed a male operating a blue SUV at a speed that appeared to be well over the posted 80 km/h speed limit. The vehicle was locked on radar in excess of 140 km/h.

Twenty-eight-year-old Yazan Alsharif of Guelph has been charged with racing a motor vehicle contrary to the Highway Traffic Act and is scheduled to appear in Guelph Provincial Court on June 20, 2018.

At approximately 9 a.m., an officer observed a male operating a white pickup truck at a speed that appeared to be well over the posted 80 km/h speed limit. The vehicle was locked on radar in excess of 140 km/h.

Thirty-seven-year-old Colin Rotmark of North York Guelph has been charged with racing a motor vehicle contrary to the Highway Traffic Act and is scheduled to appear in Guelph Provincial Court on June 20, 2018.

All driver's licences and vehicles were seized for a period of seven days as per statute.
