Toronto woman charged following Guelph RIDE check

Her driver's licence was suspended for 90 days and vehicle impounded for seven days

On May 4, 2018 at approximately 1:30 a.m., OPP officers were conducting a reduce impaired driving everywhere check on the Hanlon Parkway, City of Guelph. A female entered the R.I.D.E program.

While speaking with the driver, officers detected signs of alcohol consumption and impairment. A roadside screening test was conducted which resulted in a fail. The driver was arrested and transported to a local detachment for further testing.

Twenty-one-year-old Helena Zychlinski-Mielzynski of Toronto has been charged with drive with over 80 milligrams of alcohol in blood. She is scheduled to appear in Guelph Criminal Court on June 1, 2018 to answer to the charges. A 90-day administrative driver's licence suspension and seven-day vehicle impoundment was initiated as per statute.
