A 25-year-old man arrested in connection with the most recent homicide in Guelph has been identified.

According to court documents, Sean Wells is accused of second-degree murder in the death of a 51-year-old man at a townhouse complex on Woolwich Street earlier this month.

Wells has not yet appeared before a judge on the murder charge and remains in custody.

He was already in custody at the time of his arrest for unrelated matters.

Police attended the complex at 576 Woolwich St. on Nov. 5 for a wellness check. The man was found unresponsive and pronounced dead by paramedics.

Police believe the victim died on or about Oct. 21, about 15 days before his body was found.

After investigation, which included a post-mortem examination, the death was ruled a homicide.

Police identified the suspect as having no fixed address.

It is the second homicide in Guelph this year.
