A Hamilton man is charged with impaired operation after he was stopped in Guelph Sunday morning.
Just before 1 a.m. police were informed of an intoxicated male getting into a pickup outside a downtown bar. Officers arrived a short time later and were told the male was standing nearby. He got into his truck and started it, but officers approached quickly to prevent him from driving away. They detected alcohol on his breath and noted his speech was slurred.
After failing a roadside breath test the male was arrested and transported to the police station, where further tests confirmed he had more than the legal amount of alcohol in his system. Investigation also revealed the male had been charged with impaired operation in Hamilton two months earlier.
