A Guelph man has been arrested on threatening and weapons charges after social media posts targeting City of Guelph employees and a local daycare centre, police report.
On Wednesday police became aware of the posts, which included threats against a daycare close to the man’s home and included a photo of an improvised weapon.
Thursday morning officers were in the area of the daycare when it opened and observed the man walking towards it. The man was stopped and arrested after a brief struggle. A search of his home uncovered the same weapon seen in his posts.
A 33-year-old Guelph man is charged with two counts of uttering threats, possessing a weapon for a dangerous purpose and two counts of breaching a probation order. He was held for a bail hearing Friday.
