All occupants of a south end house that caught fire Wednesday morning escaped without physical injury, reports fire chief Brian Arnold.
Firefighters from six units responded to a Paulstown Crescent home, off Clair Road, at about 6:30 a.m.
“Upon arrival, all residents had self-evacuated from the house and the garage was fully engulfed,” Arnold explained, noting crews began combatting the blaze externally in order to prevent it from spreading and to make it more safe to launch an internal effort to extinguish it.
The home had working smoke alarms, said Arnold. He did not immediately know how many family members were living in the house at the time.
Firefighters remained at the scene to address hot spots.
The home sustained “significant external damage” as well as internal smoke and fire damage, Arnold noted.
