A fatal collision in the early hours of Tuesday resulted in the death of one person.
Ontario Provincial Police was on the scene of a fatal pedestrian collision at 4 a.m. on Highway 401 Westbound near Highway 6.
OPP Sgt. Kerry Schmidt said an original collision between two vehicles resulted in one of the occupants from one of the vehicles exiting to assess the damage and speak to the driver in the other vehicle.Fatal pedestrian collision: #Hwy401 WB near #Hwy6 closed for investigation. “The person who got out of their vehicle was then struck by a third vehicle,” said Schmidt.
He said the person struck was pronounced deceased at the scene.
Highway 401 Westbound near Highway 6 was closed after the accident for investigation. It reopened at approximately 8:50 a.m.
Traffic Tuesday morning on the 401 West was backed up for several kilometres.
The identity of the victim has not been released.
