ELORA – Investigators have deemed the body found in a vehicle fire in Elora last year as a non-suspicious death.
Matthew Burton, Wellington OPP media relations officer, said via email the investigation of a U-Haul vehicle fire where a body was found has been closed.
In the morning of Oct. 31, 2024, emergency crews responded to a reported vehicle fire in a driveway on Wilson Crescent in Elora.
A U-Haul truck was found fully engulfed in flames and neighbours reported hearing multiple explosions and loud bangs.
Fire crews were able to extinguish the fire but one person was found dead in the truck.
On that day, Burton told EloraFergusToday at the scene it was an isolated incident with no threat to public safety.
“This has been deemed as a non-suspicious death and the investigation is now closed with nothing further to update,” Burton wrote. “Out of the concern for the privacy of the family, no names will be released.”
