It is with great sadness we announce the passing of Victor Maurice Zadro on December 24, 2024 at the age of 68.
Victor is survived by his loving partner Spring Johnston and her daughter Jess, brothers Richard (Ann), and John (Kim), nephew Matthew (Caroline), and niece Laura (Marc) Lamoureux, as well as grand-nephews Andrew, Ryan, and Michael. Predeceased by his parents Ameriles (2004), and Frances (2015).
Victor had a passion for music that provided so much joy from an early age, often listening to his 45's in his bedroom repeatedly. He had fond memories of playing guitar on stage with his band Winslow alongside bands touring high schools in the 1970's which he organized as Student President at Guelph Collegiate Vocational Institute (GCVI), and was proud to have had the opportunity to share this enjoyment of music with his many guitar students.
In addition to guitar instruction, Victor wore many hats as: obtaining his Real Estate License, a Carling O'Keefe sales rep; full-time supply teacher; janitorial and maintenance worker with Norm Boyd Building Maintenance; and in various positions within brewing and bottling departments including Sleeman Breweries, amongst others. He was a work horse who got the job done with pride and conviction, but also finding time for a little horse play to lighten everyone’s day.
As an avid sports fan, Victor participated in many organized sports and his first love was cycling with the Guelph Royal Cycling Club. He also played ball hockey, basketball, baseball, football, and enjoyed long distance running or getting in a workout at the gym.
Well known as “Uncle Vinnie” both in town and over a wide-ranging area, and as the "Gnarly Landlord" by his tenants in Guelph. "Uncle Vinnie’s" friends meant the world to him, and he loved making them laugh with his comedic timing, witty one-liners, and quick comebacks.
Victor will be loved and missed by us all, and we shall forever remember his steadfast belief that, “Yes, pineapple does belong on pizza”.
Private burial and celebration of life to be held at a later date. Arrangements entrusted to the WALL-CUSTANCE FUNERAL HOME & CHAPEL 519-822-0051 / www.wallcustance.com.
Memorial contributions to the Guelph Civic Museum would be appreciated.
A tree will be planted in memory of Victor M. Zadro in the Wall-Custance Memorial Forest.
