It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Richard Louis Vettor, a beloved father, grandfather, brother, uncle and friend, who left us on November 20, 2024, at the age of 68 in his hometown of Guelph.

Born on June 6, 1956, to Antonio and Giuditta Vettor (Vaninetti), Richard grew up in a household steeped in love, Italian culture, and the values of hard work and loyalty. A proud graduate of John F. Ross C.V.I. and various Conestoga College electrical programs, Richard dedicated his career to the IBEW Local 804, where his intelligence and perfectionism earned him respect among colleagues and friends.

Richard was a true free spirit with a zest for life that was as bold and unique as he was. A man who appreciated the simple joys of living, he found his rhythm in the soundtrack of classic rock, a genre that reflected the rebellious and transformative era of his youth. A lover of games of chance, his interest in sports was often tied to the thrill of a good wager, and he was a skilled poker player who brought both strategy and charisma to the table. He also had a deep connection to stories of outlaws and rogues, finding kinship in the characters of Western films and the raw emotion of music that echoed the same spirit.

Above all, Richard was a family man. Predeceased by his parents Antonio and Giuditta, his son Zachary Michael, and siblings Dino (Betty) and Rita (Brian), Richard leaves behind a legacy of love and cherished memories. He is survived by his devoted children, Robert (Andrea) and Brianna, and his adored grandchildren, Audrey and Charlotte, who were the light of his life. His siblings Norma (late Roger), Angie (late Keith), and Linda (Louis) will remember him for his steadfast loyalty, kindness, and generous spirit. Among his extended family, Richard shared a particularly close bond with his niece Judy, whose connection with him was a source of joy and deep mutual affection.

Richard’s life was a testament to living authentically and enjoying life to the fullest. In his honor, he would ask that you enjoy a good meal, share a laugh with loved ones, or take a moment to appreciate the beauty in the world.

Family and friends are invited to celebrate Richard's life at a Celebration of Life to be scheduled in the new year.

Rest easy, Richard. Your legacy of love and individuality will live on in all of us.
