Mr. Franciscus (Frank) van Heeswyk passed away peacefully at Hospice Wellington on Sunday, August 11, 2024 in his 96th year. Beloved husband of the late Johanna (Joanne) van Heeswyk (2020). Loving father of Martin, Andre (Kathy), Paul (the late Vera) and Frank (Helena). Cherished Opa of Cory, Garrett, Eric, Justin, Christa, Cassandra, Megan, Gillian, Jana and Lenka and Great Opa to many great grandchildren.
Son of the late Marinus and Anna van Heeswyk, Frank was born in the village of Schijndel in The Netherlands on March 4th 1929. Frank immigrated to Canada with his family in March 1952 and lived with them in Branchton and then Galt (now Cambridge) and finally settling in Guelph after his marriage to Joanne in 1955.
Frank was employed for 38 years at Canadian General Electric/ABB on Woodlawn Road in Guelph retiring January 1st, 1992 and then spending years travelling the world with the love of his life.
Brother of the late Tony van Heeswyk (the late Lucy), the late Margaret Szczesny (the late Ted), Rita Wynen (the late Adrian) of Drumbo, Willie Jaegers of Cambridge, Bill van Heeswyk (Betty) of St. Mary's, John van Heeswyk (Mia) of Strathroy and Frances van Boekel (John) of Tavistock.
Resting at the Gilbert MacIntyre & Son Funeral Home & Chapel, Dublin Chapel, 252 Dublin St. N., Guelph. Visitation is on Sunday, August 18, (4-7 p.m.). A funeral mass will be held at Holy Rosary Church, 175 Emma St., Guelph on Monday, August 19 at 10:30 a.m. entombment to be at Our Lady Immaculate Mausoleum, Marymount Cemetery, If so desired, memorial donations to Hospice Wellington would be appreciated by the family.
