Louis Tonin, passed away peacefully at the age of 86. Loving companion to Pamela Willis and loved “Lou” to her children Rodney (Marion), Karen (Steve), Trevor (Allison) Denise (Ed), Eric (Lexii), and Keith, and adored "Poppy" to her many grandchildren. Dearest brother of Rose Uliana. Predeceased by his brothers Aldo, Dino and Bruno and parents Siro and Amalia Tonin. Beloved “Uncle Louie” to Peter, (late) Paul, Julie and Carolyn, Debra and Brenda, Janet, Andrea and Lynn, Robert, Mark and James and all their families.

Lou was a hardworking mechanic who owned “Lou’s Steering” and was always happy to give advice on cars and machinery. He loved horses and spending time at the track. Watching his own horses race (and occasionally win!) gave him great joy. He was a parishioner and usher at Sacred Heart Church for over 60 years, smiling and greeting everyone at the back of the church. Lou enjoyed his trips to Meaford with Pam to see friends, go fishing and stay in the trailer. He was happiest on his property, tending to the garden and working in the barn. He generously gave away fresh eggs which he stated were “delicious because he always played music for the chickens.” He greatly enjoyed having friends and family drop by the house to visit with him and Pam. Lou had a big heart and was always willing to help–whether it be moving his nieces to university, fixing a car, or supporting fundraisers by buying a freezer full of Girl Guide cookies. He had a quick smile, and his good humour brought laughter to many. Lou loved telling stories of growing up in Guelph including adventures with his brothers and family life with his favourite sister, Rose, and their parents. Lou was beloved wherever he went, including his last years as a resident at Riverside Glen. He will be greatly missed.

To honour Lou, donations to St Vincent de Paul or the Alzheimer Society would be appreciated.
