Mary Josephine Tessaro passed away on December 22, 2024 in her 96th year. Daughter of the late Michael and Barbara Shubert of Olive Avenue in Oshawa. Beloved wife of the late Bruno Tessaro for 63 years. Loved mother of Paul and John. Close and loving relative of Kathleen and the late John Soroka, and the late Mary and Walter Sorochan. Mary was also a loving sister-in-law to Bruno’s family - the late Albert and Eva Franceschini, Bruna Gumieniak (late Matt), the late Jim and Emma Hohenadel, the late Pacifico and Elsa Valeriote, and Velma Tessaro (late Dino).

Mary worked hard her entire life and enjoyed spending time with her family. She enjoyed her many years working at Engel Canada and the many friends she made there. Mary was known as a superb cook, sang in the choir at Holy Cross Church while growing up in Oshawa, and was also known for her perfect handwriting. In elementary school she won the Ontario provincial handwriting contest and her handwriting was on display at the Canadian National Exhibition. She always remembered that her mother and neighbours went to Toronto from Oshawa to view her handwriting and her award at the Exhibition.

The family extends their heartfelt gratitude to Mary’s longtime caregiver and friend Angela Veroni, and to Dr. Philip Harvey at Guelph General Hospital for his outstanding and compassionate care.

Private cremation has taken place. As expressions of sympathy, donations to the charity of one’s choice would be appreciated by the family.
