SHETH, Anil Amratlal, aged 93, passed away peacefully in Guelph, Canada, on September 4, 2024. Born in Ahmedabad, India, and raised in Mumbai, Anil embarked on an extraordinary journey aboard the Queen Mary to attend Riverdale Preparatory School, New York, at the age of 17. His passion for knowledge and learning led him to pursue a Ph.D., eventually bringing him to Canada, where he spent his career at the University of Guelph's Computer Science department. There, he formed lasting friendships with his colleagues and made significant impacts on everyone around him.
He is survived by his beloved wife Darshana, his children, Purnam (Carol), Lina (Xinfeng), Aditya (Aman), and Amrita (Kevin), his cherished grandchildren, Anisha, Nikhil, Anya, Ayaan, Soren, Rishaan, and Radha, his brothers, Rushikesh (the late Vasant) and Nipun (Prem), and sister, Meena. Anil was predeceased by his first wife, Purnima, and siblings, Vidya, Chandra, Rajnikant, Kusum, and Bharti.
A fiercely independent, humble, and curious man, Anil's spirit and gentle nature touched the lives of all who knew him. He will be deeply missed but forever remembered for his humble wisdom, generosity, love for his family, and fondness for ice cream.
A visitation will be held on Monday, September 9, 2024 at 10:30 am - 12:30 pm at Wall-Custance Funeral Home, 206 Norfolk St, Guelph, Ontario N1H 4K3.
