Of Guelph, passed away surrounded by family at the Guelph General Hospital on October 01, 2024

Beloved Mama of Patricia (Stewart Halliday) Schupp-Halliday and Cornelia (the late John Fitzpatrick) Schupp-Fitzpatrick.  Beloved Oma to Charles Schupp Halliday (Janelle), Alois Jr. Halliday Schupp and Victoria Jr. Halliday Schupp (Sunny). She is also survived by her sister Renate Metz of Cambridge.  Predeceased by her parents, Lydia and Karl Seitz as well as her sister Frieda Hopfner and brothers, Karl and Eddie Seitz.

Victoria was of German descent; but born in Romania, and after WWII, she immigrated to Germany with her family.   She went to school there was later trained as a seamstress.  Her family came to Canada in 1956 and worked in the fields of the Holland Marsh.  She met her husband in Toronto at a German Club Dance.  They married and moved to Ottawa for a short while before settling in Galt, Cambridge to join Victoria’s parents and siblings, and raise their own family. Victoria was a hard worker. She worked in various jobs as a sewer and later on opened her own upholstery business. 

Mama was a devoted mother and grandmother, a fantastic cook, gardener and housekeeper.  She was known for her Black Forest Cake as well as other delicious treats.  She was a great storyteller and loved to impart her knowledge of cooking and gardening with the family.  In recent years she enjoyed singing with the Silver Tones Choir.

In lieu of flowers memorial contributions to the Diabetes Society would be appreciated.

A tree will be planted in memory of Victoria Schupp in the Wall-Custance Memorial Forest.
