With hearts full of gratitude, we celebrate the incredible life of Phyllis Schram-McKay (nee Hines), who graced this world for 101 wonderful years. Born on February 4, 1923, Phyllis dedicated her life to the beautiful world of music, and expressed her musical talents in many ways, leaving an indelible mark on all who came to know her and were inspired by her.
From a young age, Phyllis displayed an extraordinary talent for music. Her passion led her to a lifelong career she loved as a musician, educator and mentor. She was dedicated to her craft and was committed to the students whom she supported and encouraged along the way.
Mom was an active member, organist, and choir director at Westmount Presbyterian Church in London, Ontario. Her faith was very important to her. She had many wonderful friends whom she cherished from all walks of her life and enjoyed times together whether out for dinners, going on cruises or enjoying a concert or performance.
Phyllis loved her family and was so excited when her grandchildren came along and then eventually her great-grandchildren. There were many special times at the cottage, by the pool, or when the family came together for special occasion dinners and singalongs.
She is survived by her children, Stephen (Mary Catherine) LeRoy, Pamela (Kevin) Spink and Janice LeRoy, grandchildren Sarah (Andrew) Bates, Adam (Nikki) LeRoy, Tyler Spink and Brandon Spink, Laura Boyd and Jordan Boyd, and great-grandchildren Emerson, Alden, Cooper and Brody as well as many friends, community members and her cherished students that she inspired along the way.
A celebration of her life will be held at WALL-CUSTANCE FUNERAL HOME & CHAPEL, 206 Norfolk St., Guelph, on Saturday, February 1, 2025, at 2:00pm. For those who are unable to attend but wish to watch the service remotely, you can do so via YouTube by clicking this link.
