Jacob Edward Watson Savoy of Guelph, Ontario, passed away suddenly and peacefully at home on Jan. 20.
Jacob was the beloved son of Rev. Jason and Connie Savoy, and dear brother of Benjamin and Jesse Savoy. Jacob is also survived by his grandmother, Wanda Price of New Bandon, NB; his uncles Blaine Savoy (Dianne) of Calgary, AB, Edward Savoy (Dorothy) of Saint John, NB, and Coleman Price (Lorenda) of Collette, NB; and his aunt Rose Furlong (Joseph) of Miramichi, NB. He is also survived by many cousins whom he dearly loved, as well as three individuals who held a special place in his heart: Aaron Bonas, Dakota Fleury, and David Williams.
Jacob was predeceased by his grandfathers, Edward Savoy and Rev. Cole Price, his grandmother, Genevieve Savoy, and his uncle, Donald Savoy (Peggy).
Even though Jacob was only 23 years old at the time of his passing, he lived a life full of love, laughter, and passion. Jacob found his home in church, particularly at Cornerstone United Pentecostal Church in Cambridge, where he felt truly accepted and loved. While his father was his pastor for 16 years, Jacob always had a special fondness for the one he called “his favourite pastor”, Rev. John Moorhead of Cornerstone UPC.
If you’ve ever met Jacob, you quickly learned two things: he was a self-proclaimed jokester, and he had a heart as sweet as they come. He loved to share his humour and keep conversations going with his endless curiosity. Jacob had a deep love for meeting new people, often talking their ears off with his favourite topics—politics and Brock Lesnar. He had a sharp mind for current events and could discuss U.S. politics with the best of them.
One of Jacob’s greatest passions was music. Though he was a talented drummer, his heart belonged to the guitar. He would spend countless hours mastering songs, learning everything from AC/DC classics to worship songs by Brandon Lake—all thanks to YouTube. Whether it was the soulful strum of a worship song or the electrifying riffs of rock, Jacob played with everything he had. When Jacob wasn’t playing guitar, you’d likely find him gaming online or sharing laughs with friends and family. His love for life, church, and music leaves a legacy of joy and inspiration for all who knew him.
Jacob will be deeply missed but fondly remembered by his family, friends, and church community. His memory will continue to live on in every strum of a guitar, every laugh shared, and every heart he touched.
