ROmeo

Peacefully with his loving family by his side. Domenico Romeo passed away in his home on January 24, 2022.

Beloved husband of the late Rosa (Galletta, who passed Aug 1, 1996). Loving father of Rocco Romeo, Nancy Huck (Tim), John Romeo (Antonella), Antoinette Galizia (Rob), Deanna Romeo Pocobene. Proud and loving Nonno of Meaghan, Caitlyn, Anthony, Jordan; Laura, Greg (Sarah) Melissa (Alberto); Vanessa (Andy); Alexandra (Anthony), Amelia, Andrea, Roberto (Morgan); David, Marisa, Aaron. Adored Bisnonno of Reid, Riley, Dominic and Christian. Remembered by his siblings Vincenzo Romeo, Fortunata Anselmini, Peter Romeo, Francesca Reginato, his many nieces and nephews, and family in Canada and Italy. Reunited in heaven with with his love, Rosa and his siblings Giuseppe Romeo, Domenica Romeo, Anna Sorbara, Maria Spano.

Born November 11, 1928 in Orti, Calabria, Italy, Domenico immigrated to Canada in 1957 in search of a better life for himself and his family. A man of remarkable strength, courage, and character, he overcame any obstacle with determination. Domenico had a zest for life that could not be slowed by age or ailments. Domenico was incredibly tenacious. With a suitcase full of big hopes and dreams, he arrived eager to make his mark. He was industrious, ambitious, determined and headstrong. Obstacles that presented were no match for him. With sheer will and purpose, slowly but surely Domenico and his wife built the life they dreamed of having. His children and grandchildren will always be grateful for the life lessons taught and the work ethics learned. Thank you Dad.

If you were fortunate enough to have crossed paths with Domenico, you would likely have experienced his humour, charm and inquisitive mind. He was known to stop many a stranger just to say "hello bella", or "hello my friend". With the turn of a phrase or a pointed question, he would quickly become memorable. He often said when it's time to work, work hard and talk less. Yet, when the work was done, he immensely enjoyed the art of company and conversation. We will all miss these talks.

We wish to express our deepest gratitude to Emelyn, Felicia, Elzbieta, Remi, Eleanore, Saria, and Gail - the caregivers that treated Domenico like their own. Your compassion and kindness was beyond measure and will never be forgotten. To Nurse Catrina and Dr. Spadafora, thank you for taking care of our hero!
