August 31, 1941 - January 24, 2025

With tears we announce our mother, Jackie Roberston, passed away on Friday, January 24, 2025, in Guelph at Hospice Wellington.

Jackie is survived by her children Lisa (Leo Medeiros), Will (Michele) and Ryan Mactaggart (Kelly), her "grands" Levi and Denya Medeiros, Esme, William, Fynn and Ainsley Mactaggart.
She was born in Cheltenham, Ontario to R.A. and Joan (Overberg) Robertson, the second of four, late Kathleen Cruttenden, Russ and Jo Robertson.

She was a teacher, a reader, a builder, an environmentalist and a life-long learner of many crafts. She really loved brightening the eyes of anyone - but especially children. She enjoyed looking at art, birds and the stars, skiing, paddling, biking, antique auctions, finding a deal, lively debate and community activism. She was a fantastic pastry maker and shy with sugar long before low carb was a thing.

She sorted her garbage for more than 55 years - what little garbage she generated.

Her world was made smaller by hearing loss. While she no longer enjoyed large loud parties, musical performances, or stage plays, she was delighted to hear the voices of her grandchildren after she got a cochlear-implant and she always wanted a personal piano recital.

Jackie lived in Bolton, Guelph, Plantagenet, Cumberland, Clarence, Genelg, and Eden Mills.

She said she built her perfect house in the woods of Glenelg near Markdale. Surrounding herself in a garden, she enjoyed nearly 20 years there. It was the refinement of all the lessons she learned renovating Puslinch, Treadwell, Cumberland, and building in Clarence.

Wherever she landed, she made new friends and built community. She kept in touch with many of her old friends despite distance as she was a good correspondent until her very last years.

Donations in her memory to Hospice Wellington are most appreciated.

A celebration of life will be held in Guelph at a later date.
