September 29, 1928 – November 12, 2021
Passed away after a brief illness at the age of 93. Predeceased by his wife of 41 years, Margaret Redfern (Reynolds). Father of David (Arlene), Leslie (recently deceased) (Brian) and Ann (Stephen). Proud granddad of Conner and Reid Robertson (Guelph) and Grace and Hannah Woodley (Fort McMurray). Survived by his English relatives, nephew Richard Holt (Ann), their daughter Kate and granddaughter Lucy.
Born September 29, 1928 in Hampstead, England. Alex served in the British Army before emigrating to Canada in 1956. He arrived in Halifax, aboard the Empress of Scotland and then made his way to Toronto. He was a trained Quantity Surveyor and worked in the construction industry for over 35 years. He and his wife enjoyed Scottish country dancing and Alex performed in many tattoos at the CNE grandstand. The “farm” in Grey County was a special place for family and friends. A favourite pastime was attending auction sales and finding furniture with hidden potential and restoring their beauty. Walking through their home, you could see his handy work in every room.
After the passing of his wife, Alex moved to the Village by the Arboretum where he was a cast member with the Village Players Theatre group, volunteered at the River Run Centre, made voice recordings of textbooks for U of G visually impaired students and loved to play bridge.
