It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Phil Ridi on January 1, 2025, age 60, at Guelph General Hospital from respiratory failure.

Loving son to Rosetta Ridi nee Stefano & the late Antonio Ridi. Dear brother of Maria Lilley (née Ridi) and Jim Lilley. Proud Zio to Alex Lilley and Lacey Grant & future great niece. Amanda Russell née Lilley and Jake Russell. Cherished nephew to Zia Concetta Stefano, Zia Maria and Zio Arcangelo Di Santo, the late Zio Carmelo (Giuseppe) and the late Zia Arcangela Ridi of Guelph. Zia Nina Stefano and the late Sergio Euticchio, Zia Maria and the late Zio Vincenzo Stefano, Zii Catena, Antonia, and Maria Ridi all of Italy. He will be missed by all cousins, his many friends, and extended family.

Phil possessed a dry humour and wasn't afraid to express himself most of his life. As mischievous as he was, he was also a gentle soul. A true lover of competitive billiards, Phil could often be found at the Real Deal Sports Bar and Billiards in Guelph, where he honed his skills, accumulated trophies and shared stories with friends. His passion for the game took him far beyond the local scene, with memorable trips to Las Vegas where he competed in tournaments. As an owner/operator of Canadian Cab #20 and #26, Phil made many connections in the Guelph community. He was well loved and remembered for his travels to Italy, Australia, the USA and Mexico. A car enthusiast at heart, those who loved him knew Phil had a special affection for his black 1987 Corvette convertible.

The family wishes to extend a special thanks and gratitude to the staff of Riverside Glen where Phil resided for over ten years, after suffering from a major car accident and subsequent stroke. The PSW’s and staff from Right At Home, were amazing and we are forever thankful for all their patience, compassionate care, and support.

A visitation for Filippo will be held Tuesday, January 7, 2025, from 4:00 PM to 8:00 PM at Gilbert MacIntyre & Son Hart Chapel. Vigil prayers will take place at 7:30 pm. A funeral service will take place Wednesday, January 8 at 10:30 am in the chapel of Gilbert MacIntyre & Son Hart Chapel, followed by interment at Marymount Cemetery.

Arrangements entrusted to Gilbert MacIntyre & Son Funeral Home, 1099 Gordon St, Guelph.

As expressions of sympathy, donations made to the Heart & Stroke Foundation and Guelph General Hospital Foundation would be greatly appreciated by the family. Donations and condolences can be made online at www.gilbertmacintyreandson.com
