It is with great sorrow that the family announces the passing on March 8th, 2025 at Hospice Wellington at the age of 87.
Born and raised in Truro, Nova Scotia, moved to Guelph with his parents and brother, at the age of 14. Loving husband to Patricia for 64 years. Beloved father to Wayne (Carrie), Sandra Davidson (Cameron). The best grandfather to Sarah (Robert Dawson), Mitchell (Grace), Brock and Chloe. Great grandfather to Georgia. Brother to Merle (Darlyne).
He had such a kind, patient and gentle soul, and will be remembered by his many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
Dad and Mom travelled extensively after they retired making their way to Alaska, Europe and throughout Canada and the United States. He was especially fond of their many return trips home to Nova Scotia.
He loved spending time with friends over a round of golf, playing cards (especially euchre), watching curling, theater shows, listening/dancing to country music (Charlie Pride’s Crystal Chandeliers was a favourite), and was always up for nachos and beer. Dad was a proud grandfather who loved spending time with his grandchildren whether it was spending time at the beach in Port Elgin, attending a dance recital, graduations, and was a constant supporter in the stands at the hockey arenas and ballparks for so many years.
The family wishes to thank the Juravinski Hospital, the many PSW Care Workers who cared for Dad, Guelph General Hospital and Hospice Wellington where dad was able to spend his final days in comfort and peace. We will be forever grateful for the staff and volunteers at Hospice who were so kind and compassionate to our family.
Cremation has taken place, and a visitation will be held at the WALL-CUSTANCE FUNERAL HOME & CHAPEL, 206 Norfolk St., Guelph, on Saturday, April 26th from 1:00-2:00pm.
