George was predeceased by the love of his life Doreen (2006) his parents Elizabeth and Clarence and brothers Henry John and Donnie and sisters Ella Josephine and Anna
He is survived by his children Debbie(Joe) Kim(Phil) and Ted (Colleen) by grandchildren Andrea Ryan Tristan Ali Sarah Brendan Eamon Colin and Seamus and great grandchildren Barrett Kailo Briella Elizabeth Malia Jack Crosby and Callum. He is also survived by two sisters Gloria (Mike) and Isabel, and in-laws Wayne (Dianne ) Jeanne and Bob. He will also be missed by his four legged buddy Rex.
George was born and raised on the family farm on Eramosa Road. After a trip out to BC to work for a summer he returned to Guelph to become a carpenter and have his own very successful contracting business. He was a master at restoration and his George Mooney Ltd truck was seen on just about every street in Guelph-the city that he loved. He lived all of his life in the three homes that he built on Promenade Drive on land from the original farm.
He loved horses whether it be an afternoon at Woodbine or his yearly trip to the Calgary Stampede. He loved taking his beloved Doreen dancing at Paradise Gardens But most of all he loved being together with all of his grandchildren and great grandchildren on the porch at Promenade under his favourite tree.
A very special thank you to Dr Shannon Hutton who went above and beyond in taking such good care of Dad.
Our memories will be endless - a Granpa full of fun and joy laughter and silly pranks, humility and hard work.
But most of all love.
The family will receive friends and family from 1 till 2 pm with service at 2 pm at Gilbert MacIntyre Funeral Home Hart Chapel 1099 Gordon Street Guelph, Wednesday August 14 2024.
