March 12, 1932 - March 2, 2025

It is with sorrow and gratitude for a life well lived that we share the peaceful passing of our father Tranquillo just before sunrise on Sunday, March 2, 2025. He is predeceased by our mother, his loving wife, Aurora.  We take comfort in knowing that on March 12, he will be celebrating his first heavenly birthday with our mom. Tranquillo was the dear Father to Florie and Joe Di Pede, Loretta and Kim Brown and Nancy and Joe Bernardi.

He was the beloved Nonno to his grandchildren Andrew (Natasha) Di Pede, Adam (Stephanie) Di Pede, Olivia Di Pede (Maxwell); Eric (Ariel) Brown, Alex (Shannon) Brown, Luke (Leah) Brown; Sara (Joshua) Gage, Valentino (Gina) Bernardi and Jon Paul Bernardi and bisnonno to his great-grandchildren Leonardo and Juliet; Foster, Penelope, and Theordore; Chiara and Vincenzo; Paisley and “Angel” Baby Mae. He was deeply loved and will be missed by all!

Tranquillo is survived by siblings Benny (Paula), Gina (late Giulio Stocco) and Luciana (late Riccardo Turracto) and by two sister-in-laws, Gina Monico and Maria Monico. He was predeceased by siblings Guglielmo (late Rita), Giuseppe (late Luigia), Gino (late Teresa), Maria (late Francesco Simeoni), Liberale and Gianni. He will also be missed by many nieces and nephews.

Trank will forever be known as the barber of Macdonell Street where he worked for 55 years and retired at the young age of 84. He was born in Riese, Treviso, Italy and immigrated to Canada in 1952 where he met and married the love of his life, Aurora who immigrated to Canada in 1953. Tranquillo’s work ethic and love of family were all traits for which he will be remembered. His love and determination laid the groundwork for his family.

We are forever grateful for the caring and angelic hearts of the PSWs, nurses, staff and volunteers at St. Joseph’s Home. They made our father’s final years on earth a loving and safe place to be.  Trank was a special person who expressed his thoughts and feelings with his warm smile and his baby blue eyes that truly were the windows to his soul.

As we sat by his bedside that last day, he would open his eyes look upwards and smile. The welcoming presence of our mother Aurora and our Lord was felt.  His body is now at rest and his soul is soaring.

“Rejoice and be glad, for your reward in Heaven is great.” Matthew: 1-12
