Moira Minke (nee Connor), 51 years married to her husband Douglas Minke of Puslinch, has passed away due to a stroke.

She now joins her parents Thomas (1907-1944) and Ethel (1910-2007) as well as her brother Maurice (1937-2007), sister in-law Brenda (1941-2012), brother Graham (1935-2017), and sister in-law Dianne McLean (1947-2021). She is survived by sister in-law Ann Connor in Manchester, her nephew Christopher Connor of Point Clark Ont, niece Sally Connor of Waterloo, Steven Connor of Manchester England, niece Sarah Connor of Cape Verde, grand-niece Maddie Connor of Manchester, grand-nephew Nathaniel Connor of Manchester, grand-niece Brianna Wey of Kingston, sister in-laws Pam Nickason, Jayne Minke and Teresa Gowan, and brother in-laws Chris Minke, Ron McLean, Tom Gowan and Ron Nickason. She is also fondly remembered by her husband's nieces and nephews Jay and Jeff McLean, Pauline Farmer, Renee Holmes, Randy Nickason, Alanna Strauss, Josh Gowan, David and Adam Minke.

Moira was the youngest of three children in the Connor family. Her father died when she was 5 years old and her mother raised the family by herself in Manchester England. In the early 1960's her two brothers and their families came to Canada and a little later Moira and her mother Ethel also came to live in the Kitchener-Waterloo area. Moira worked as a hair dresser in England but in Canada she worked in a bank and met her husband Douglas when he came into the bank to make a payment on his student loan. She gave him a haircut on their first date.

Her career in the Bank of Montreal, and later the Royal Bank, included many promotions throughout the KW area as well as Elora, Cambridge and Guelph. She left the Royal bank in 1994 and 'branched out' to retirement, which included many enjoyable winters in Florida until 2020.

Moira's talents included interior decorating, flower arranging, gardening and poetry. Her great sense of humour and real nice smile put everyone around her at ease. She is sorely missed.

As per Moira's wishes cremation has taken place. A Celebration of Moira's Life will be held at the Brombal Funeral Home, One Delhi Street, Guelph on Sunday, July 14, 2024 from 1:00 p.m. - 3:00 p.m. Those wishing to attend are asked to RSVP to [email protected]
