It is with great sadness that the family of Art Mead (aka. Dad, Daddio, Daddy, papa, Art Buddy, Schmoochams, Angel Boy) announce his passing.
Art was Born on September 28th, 1930, and passed on January 20th, 2025, with his son and daughter in law by his side.
Lived in Guelph, ON, alongside his loving family.
He was predeceased by wife Pearl whom he married on August 25th, 1956. They had 2 children, daughter Jill (husband Steve) and son Peter (wife Cherry). Proud grandfather of Brad, Chelsea, Alyssa, Ryan, Mitch, Lindsey, Oliver, Austin, Alexis, Dante. Great-grandfather to Greydon & Elle.
Art was an avid woodsman and proudly worked at University of Toronto “shops”. He was a master furniture refinisher and loved his carving hobby. Art was an aircraft enthusiast and spent 55 dedicated years as a proud member of the RAF. Art also had a passion for photography, as well as lovingly making pens which he had given away hundreds. Art always looked forward to his weekly Fish N Chips.
A visitation will be held at Gilbert MacIntyre & Son Funeral Home - Hart Chapel, 1099 Gordon St, Guelph, ON. on Saturday, February 1, 2025 from 10am-12 p.m. The service will immediately follow at 12 p.m. A livestream link will be available on the funeral home website for those unable to attend in person.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made in Arts memory to the Heart and Stroke Foundation, Sick Kids Foundation, or Guelph General Hospital Foundation would be greatly appreciated.
