It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Kenneth John McLennan (Ken) on February 1, 2025. Ken is survived by the love of his life Kathryn (Kay) and best friend of 62 years. Cherished father of Rob and Tracy McLennan of Guelph and Allison and John Williams of Victoria British Columbia. He was a proud grandfather (GG) to Madeline and Natalie, who brought him immense joy. Brother to Donald and Ann McLennan, North Carolina. Brother in-law to Neil and Mary LawsonPre-deceased by his father and mother, John and Janet McLennan, father in-law and mother -in-law, Hector and Agnes Lawson and brother Angus McLennan.
Remembered by many family and friends here and in Scotland, United States and Australia. Born in Scotland, Ken immigrated to Canada in 1967, first settling in Barrie before making Guelph his home. A lifelong supporter of the Glasgow Rangers, Ken’s passion for football was evident in all aspects of his life. He was actively involved in the Guelph Soccer Club, where he made lasting contributions to the sport he loved. His enthusiasm for football and golf remained strong throughout his life.
Before coming to Canada, Ken was an officer in the Merchant Navy of Scotland and travelled the world.
Ken will be remembered for his sharp wit, incredible sense of humor, and unwavering kindness.
He was a cherished friend, a wonderful neighbour, and a devoted family man who brought warmth and laughter to those around him.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Guelph General Hospital Foundation in Ken’s memory.
Cremation has taken place and a private family gathering will be held to honour his life.
