Passed away after a brief illness at Guelph General Hospital on Tuesday, June 20th, 2023, in her 92nd year.
Dear mother of Karen Harvey (Peter), David (Christine), Murray (Cassie) and Paul (the late Sarah 2012). Loving Nana and Great Nana of Jennifer (Pedro: Marina and Caetano), Cassandra (Matt), Caitlin (John: Maggie and Harvey), Megan, Eric, Cate, Sarah (Mike: Elspeth), James (Emma: James), Abbey, Hannah and Kate. She is survived by her siblings Jean Innes, Fred Innes and Isobel Thorup.
She was predeceased by her husband of more than 62 years, Bruce in 2017 and brother Donald Innes. She will be fondly remembered and greatly missed by numerous relatives and friends.
Margaret grew up on a farm near Harrington, ON, attended Stratford Normal School and began teaching in Perth and then Prince Edward Counties. For several years in Stratford and Peterborough she stayed home to raise her children, but once they were all in school, she returned to the classroom as a supply teacher in Guelph, ON, for more than 20 years. She focused on the younger grades (often fondly known as Mrs. Crocodile) and Home Economics. She kept family connections intact, especially through her decades of work on the Low family history. She was a superb seamstress (including making our clothes) and was a long-time member of the Guelph Needlecraft Guild. Marg and Bruce enjoyed square dancing, camping and their Trinity United Church community. Traveling to see family, friends and to make new ones was a highlight of her life. She was a Winter Texan for more than 15 years, lived for 17 years in Village by the Arboretum, and more recently for 6 years at Arbour Trails in Guelph.
