It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Ted, age 79, at Grand River Hospital in Waterloo after a long battle with cancer and Parkinson’s. A beloved husband to Rita, Ted was a devoted father to his sons, David and Kevin, and a proud grandfather to Ava and Zoe, who brought immense joy to his life. He is survived by his brother Ron and half brother Keith, and predeceased by parents Lloyd and Irene.
Ted grew up in Port Colborne and graduated from Ryerson Institute of Technology with a degree in drafting. Throughout his career he held various jobs but spent most of his working life as a stationary engineer in Sarnia, Ontario.
Ted had a passion for racquet sports, enjoying tennis, squash, and table tennis, along with pond hockey, baseball and volleyball. The day’s edition of the Globe and Mail was never far from his side, and his love of pies and pastries was legendary. Ted cherished working outdoors on their hobby farm in Camlachie where he especially enjoyed tapping the sugar maples and cooking up the syrup in the woods. He had an easygoing nature and quietly accepted life’s ups and downs.
He will be deeply missed and fondly remembered by all who knew him. In lieu of flowers, donations to Parkinson’s Canada or the Canadian Cancer Society would be greatly appreciated.
