It is with great with sadness that we announce the passing of Laila Mansour, who departed to the Lord in hope of the resurrection at St. Joseph’s Hospital in Hamilton, on September 21, 2024.

She will be greatly missed by her sons Sameh Sargeos and Adel Hakim, her daughters-in law Nermine Sargeos and Nivine Hakim and her five grandchildren: Marco Hakim, Monika Sargeos, Karen Hakim (wife of Michael Shehata) and Meray Sargeos.

Laila lived a long and joyful life until the age of 90, surrounded by her grandchildren and her family in Canada. Laila will be remembered as a Christ-loving woman, who instilled the Coptic Orthodox faith in her children and grandchildren. She was a devoted mother, grandmother and a friend to many who will miss her dearly. Laila leaves behind a legacy of kindness, wisdom and unwavering faith.

Laila spent her life in service to others, throughout her long career as a social worker in the public health sector and as a devout servant in the church. She was a dedicated servant in the Church of Archangel Michael in Cairo, Egypt, where she led the ministry of serving the poor. Her legacy is marked by her compassion and a deep commitment to helping those in need. Whether it was through her profession or personal acts of kindness, Laila made a lasting impact on everyone she met, both in Egypt as well as in the past 20 years in the Guelph, Hamilton and Kitchener communities. She was known for her sense of humour and always finding laughter and joy in every occasion. She will be deeply missed, but her spirit of generosity, love, and faith will continue to live on in our hearts forever.

A funeral service will be held at Saint Mina's Coptic Orthodox Church, 1562 Rymal Rd. E., Hamilton on Tuesday, September 24, 2024 at 12:00pm. Burial will take place at Woodland Cemtery, 700 Spring Gardens Rd, Burlington.
