Laura Frances MacLeod, of Elora, passed away peacefully at home on December 23, 2017. Laura was kind, caring, and gracious, and she made a difference in many lives. She is survived by her beloved dude, Jim Broadfoot. Predeceased by her parents John and Norma and her brother Rob. Laura is loved and will be missed by her sisters and brothers Janet, Bruce, Callum (Shelagh Smith), Douglas, and Megan (Rob Tracz), and by her niece and nephews and their children. She is fondly remembered by the extended Broadfoot & Ewing families and by many friends in the Elora and Fergus area. Born in Winnipeg, raised in Manitoba and Alberta, Laura lived in many communities in western and central Canada before coming to Elora many years ago. She and Jim travelled extensively across the country, from Newfoundland to Haida Gwaii and the Yukon, and they loved the home they shared in Elora. The care that Laura received from her team of health care professionals is deeply appreciated by the family. At Laura’s request, there will be no service. Charities that were important to her include the Nature Conservancy of Canada and the Canadian Wildlife Federation.
