With heavy hearts and profound sadness, we announce the sudden passing of Nicholas Law at the age of 18, due to a motor vehicle accident.

Cherished son of Bill and Jennifer (NEE Gemin) Law. Nicholas was the best-ever brother to siblings Elizabeth and Matthew, friend of Ryan Koepke and Autumn Sabila and very special friend to Ava MacNeil. Beloved grandson of his Nan and Poppa, Ruth and Allan Law and his Nono and Nona Gerry and Kathy Gemin. Nephew of Uncle Lou, Uncle Paul and Aunt Lisa Law and Zio Jeff and Zia Anita, Zio Dave and Zia Kamila Gemin. Much loved by his cousins Aleasia Law-Power (Glen) and Sara Law and Adrianna, Angelina, Ella and Cameron Gemin.

Nicholas loved life and has lived a life time in his eighteen years. He attended St. Joseph’s Elementary School in Fergus and graduated from St. James High School in Guelph this past June 2024. To say Nicholas had a strong work ethic would be putting it mildly. As a young teen, he ran a lawn mowing business employing his younger brother Matthew. He started a small wood working enterprise making and selling boot jacks through a retail outlet in Fergus and Mount Forest, Shoetopia. Over the years he has worked at the Caledon Ski Club and this past year at the Bore-Tex Inc Garage in Belwood where he also completed his Grade 12 Co-op. Nicholas was a sportsman; he played hockey for many years as a youngster on Fergus teams. He loved his quad, his snowmobile and his dirt bike; but the pride of his vehicles was his red 2008 Dodge Ram 1500 4x4 truck. This was his signature and was recognized wherever he went.

As a friend, there was no one more loyal than Nicholas Law; he was an honoured member of the informal friendship club known as the GT/EASTVIEW GROUP. His commitment to his family, to his friends, to his neighbours, was solid and long lasting as was proven this past week by the outpouring of love and support from our community. When this tragic accident occurred, Nicholas was on his way home from his newly acquired full time job as a Groomer at the Chicopee Ski Club in Kitchener.

He was so excited that he would be following in his Dad’s footsteps as a Groomer. Nicholas will long be remembered; as one friend posted ... “you’re a legend, man”.

The family wishes to thank the First Responders (Paramedics, Fire Fighters, Ontario Provincial Officers), the Doctors and Nurses of the Emergency Department of Groves Hospital and Father Ian Duffy for your caring and professional response to Nicholas and to us.

Relatives and friends are welcome to gather with the family on Sunday, January 5, 2025 from 1:00 – 3:00 PM and 5:00PM – 7:00PM at Graham A Giddy Funeral Home (280 St. David St. S, Fergus, ON, 519-843-3100). A funeral Mass will be celebrated on January 6, 2025 at 10:00 AM at St. Joseph Parish with interment to follow at St. Mary Immaculate and St. Joseph Cemetery, Elora.
