Passed away peacefully with family by his side in the early hours of Saturday November 16th in his 91st year. He leaves behind his wife of 66 years Lois (nee McDougall), his children, Jamie (Laura Radey), Michael, Adrianne and Tamara (Joe Kresovic), grandchildren, Nick and Gregory Knighton and his nieces Beverley Igo and Barbara Alves. He will also be missed by extended family, cousins, colleagues and friends.

Predeceased by his parents Clifford Knighton and Rudy (nee Juhlin), and his sister Margery Joyce Igo (2013).

Harley was born and raised in Guelph and attended Guelph C.V.I. before becoming a Draftsman which lead him into teaching starting at Orangeville D.H.S.. After a couple of years he transferred for a teaching position and a technical headship at Guelph C.V.I., where he also enjoyed coaching football, rugby and basketball. All his life he enjoyed outdoor pursuits, travelling and his four legged furry friends. A big thank you to the Rickson Park dog group that made his day for decades.

Visitations will occur at the Gilbert MacIntyre and Son Funeral Home, Hart Chapel, 1099 Gordon St., Guelph, on Friday November 22, 2024, from 6:00-8:00 PM, and Saturday November 23, 2024, from 11:00-1:00 PM. A private family interment at Woodlawn Memorial Park will take place as per his wishes. Donations to Hospice Wellington or the Donkey Sanctuary in lieu of flowers.
