Denton Hoffman passed away peacefully late afternoon of Friday, June 16th, 2017 shortly before 6:00 pm at Riverside Glen in Guelph, ON. Denton was born January 7, 1940 to the late Ivan and Mary (Peever) Hoffman in Pembroke, ON.
Denton is fondly remembered and survived by former spouse and lifelong friend Ann (Kuula) Hoffman, children Robin Hoffman Cadham (Husband Toby), Jason Hoffman (Wife Angela) and Kitty Hoffman Farrell (Husband Kirk), grandchildren Jonas, Edi, Talia, Maddy, Kendra and Hunter, siblings Marie McMahon (Husband Terry) and Cecil Hoffman (Wife Anne), as well as much loved nieces and a nephew.
Denton’s passion for farming and food safety standards grew from an early age working at his family’s creamery in Eganville, ON and then later through studies in Agrology at both McGill and University of Guelph. Denton enjoyed engaging tenure with various provincial and national organizations where he helped pioneer many horticulture standards that are still, if not more so relevant today. He loved family meals, gardening, listening to The Vinyl Café and watching hockey as much as a good board meeting or Rotary event. Denton was a charismatic public speaker which overflowed to his gregarious love for entertaining and involvement in the community.
