Corporal James Stephen Hetherington (Reg# 22632 Retired)
After a long battle with Parkinson’s Disease, we must bid farewell to Jim (Jimmy) Hetherington. Born on February 9th,1941 in Coal Creek, New Brunswick, Jim was the devoted husband of 56 years to Sandra, loving father of Stephen (Karen), Shawn (Laurie) and Jennifer (Alan) and Papa to Grace, Mason, Quinn, Alex, and Jessica. Beloved brother to Gerald (Barb), Susan (Lee), Sharon (late Charlie), Sylvia (Eddie), and Robin (Norma). Brother-in-law to the late David (Nancy), and Dale (Bob). Uncle Jimmy to many nieces and nephews.
Jim spent most of his adult life working for the RCMP, then CSIS. After retiring he worked for the Region of Waterloo as a By-law Enforcement officer and finally as a part time driver for Waterloo Taxi which inspired him to write and publish a book on the history of the taxi business in the Region of Waterloo. Jim’s greatest joys were his yearly canoe/fishing trips to Algonquin Park with his sons Stephen, Shawn and brother-in-law Dave, woodworking, and traveling with Sandra.
The family extends a heartfelt thank you to the Elliott LTC community especially to Jim’s three amigas Shellie, Melanie, and Filipina, and to all the staff on Wellington for their excellent care and compassion over the past several years.
All our love until we meet again.
