Ken Heron passed away peacefully on December 8, 2024, at Hospice Wellington, surrounded by family.
Ken was the beloved husband of Janice for over 50 years, proud father to Andrea (Rodney Burke) and Allison (Mike Roadknight), and cherished Grandpa to Jack, Julia, Reese, and Lochlan. He was a brother to Eva (predeceased, Brian predeceased), and a loving uncle to Laura, Adam, Scott (Kelly), and Julie (James). Ken was the son of Ethel and Harold, both predeceased and adoring dog dad to Molly.
Ken grew up in Copper Cliff, Ontario, and spent 35 years working with INCO. He and Jan raised their family in Sudbury, where winters were enjoyed on the ski hill and summers on Long Lake. After moving to Guelph, Ken found joy golfing at the Guelph Country Club, surrounded by a wonderful community. He also had a long-standing passion for playing guitar and enjoyed jam sessions with his friends.
In recent years, Ken traveled to Europe, cruised along the East Coast, and celebrated his and Jan’s 50th wedding anniversary. He was deeply proud of the daughters he and Jan raised and the families they built. Ken was known for keeping all the kids team hats in his car, always ready to cheer on his grandchildren at hockey, ringette and baseball games.
The family is grateful for the compassionate care provided by the teams at Hamilton General, Guelph General, and Hospice Wellington. Donations in Ken’s memory can be made to Hospice Wellington at www.hospicewellington.org or to the Heart and Stroke Foundation.
A celebration of Ken’s life will be held on December 22, 2024, from 12:00 to 3:00 p.m. at the Guelph Country Club.
