January 6, 1948 – January 25, 2025
With heavy hearts, we share the passing of Glyn David Griffiths, (77) after a brief illness. Glyn leaves behind his wife and best friend Maureen, of 51 years; his brother-in-law John Middleton, sister-in-law Bin, nephew Philip, brother-in-law Tom Middleton, and his two nieces Stephanie and Jeanine Middleton and their families; and two cousins David and Peter Griffiths (residing in England). Glyn was predeceased by his parents Yvonne (Betty) and Alan Griffiths, and his sister-in-law Leslie Middleton.
Glyn was born in Glasgow, Scotland and later moved to Colchester, England. He was a police officer for 42 years; six years with the London Metropolitan Police Force (England); six years with the Royal Hong Kong Police Force; and 30 years with the Peel Regional Police Force. Glyn and Maureen (also a police officer) were married in Hong Kong in 1975 and enjoyed travelling the world together and sharing many adventures.
Glyn will be remembered as a kind-hearted, easy-going gentle man with a good sense of humour. He loved dogs and co-parented many dogs throughout his married life. He was even visited by his dog Quinn while in the hospital. Glyn was very involved with the Scouts and was presented with the Queen’s Scout Award by Queen Elizabeth and the Duke of Edinburgh Award by Prince Philip. Glyn held a private pilot’s license, was an excellent marksman, loved soccer, rugby, golf, and was an avid reader. He enjoyed living in the Village by the Arboretum (Guelph) where he made many friends, was part of the Sound & Light Team, and played Bocce Ball. He will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved him.
