Gray Dennis MM

After a courageous 8-year journey with ALS Dennis is now rejoicing with his heavenly Father.  Dennis peacefully passed away on August 23, 2017 at the Guelph General Hospital surrounded by loving family.

He is greatly missed by his wife Lorna.  Dennis is predeceased by his parents Cyril and Winnifred Gray.  He is survived by his son Michael (Melissa), daughter Lindsay, step-children Evan Howie (Katrina), Jennifer Howie and Nathan Howie, five grandchildren Elliott, Nora, Edison, Lexi and Cadence, brother Bob (Irene) of Markham, sister Shirley Caruk (Gord) of Bramalea and sister Peg Gray of Brampton.  He was a special uncle to Rob (Jenna), Matthew, Amanda and Jessica.

Dennis was born in Toronto and raised in Scarborough, Ontario.  He drove bus, streetcar and subway for TTC for 29 years and later drove bus for GRT in Cambridge.  Although he played in various Salvation Army Bands he particularly enjoyed singing in ‘Gospel 6’ at Bloor Central Corps.  Times fishing and camping at Madawaska held a special place in his heart and the shoreline of Lake Huron was also a favourite spot.  His smile lit up the room, especially when he was cheering for the Maple Leafs, Blue Jays or listening to country music.  Dennis was blessed with a keen sense of direction and an amazing sense of humour which he maintained until his final journey.

We would like to thank our family caregiving team of Nathan, Sherry, Steve, Merv and Joan and our countless teams of healthcare professionals, especially Kim, Joanne, Jane, Kelly and Julius for walking beside us.

Cremation has taken place.  A visitation celebration will be held on Saturday, September 9th, 10:00 am – 12:00 noon at the Salvation Army Citadel, 1320 Gordon Street, Guelph.  Memorial contributions to ALS Canada or the Salvation Army Band would be appreciated.
