GEREMIA, Eliza Maria

Eliza Maria (nee Olivetto) Geremia of Guelph, died peacefully on December 24, 2022 at the age of 86 with her family by her side. She was blessed with Christmas Eve prayers from loved ones from around the world.

Eliza, also sometimes referred to as Elisa, Louisa or "Bella", brimmed with kindness, generosity, empathy and love. She was also resilient, resourceful and brave. At the age of 23, she left her family in Padova, Italy and set off on a great adventure to Canada where she joined the love of her life and husband, Mario Geremia. Together they built a vibrant community of friends and a loving family that grew to 6 children and 11 grandchildren. The home life she created was filled with love, laughter, amazing food, gratitude and faith.

Eliza will be dearly missed and remembered by her children Joe (Lianne), Joanne Geremia Baggio (Joe), MaryAnna McGowan (Tim), Anita Thring (Jim), Sabrina Geremia (Ian), Sonia Geremia (deceased 1993) and her loving grandchildren Erika, Gillian, Michelle, Celena, Austin, Mitchell, Ellen, Dylan, Alexa, Zac and Zoe.

She is predeceased by her siblings, Giovannina, Romano, Adelina, Miranda, Guido, Angelo and Carmela of Italy.

We wish to extend our deep and heartfelt gratitude to the nurses, PSWs, volunteers and staff of the Ashley Lane Dementia Care wing of St. Joseph's Health Centre in Guelph. Your care, dedication, compassion and kindness in her final 5 years will never be forgotten.

The Funeral mass is on Thursday December 29, 2022 at 10:00 a.m. at Saint Joseph's Church, 409 Paisley Road, N1H 2R4, Guelph. Masks are encouraged.
