With great sadness, we announce the sudden passing of our mother, Eleanor “Mefe” Garcia (nee Fazzari) on Thursday, January 17, 2025. Beloved wife of the late Edward (Eddie) Garcia (1998) of 44 years. Loving mother of Paul (deceased 2019), Donna, and Chris and her husband Dean Breedon. Beloved Grandma of Marc and Celine Lussier. Survived by her sister Yoli Cauz (late Tony), and predeceased by her brother, Frank Fazzari (late Mary), and sisters Mary Fazzari, Vicki Anderson (late Albert), and Rita Soligo (late Guy). Sister-In-Law of the late Vincent (Ruby), Joseph, and Andy (Isabel) Garcia. Dearly loved aunt of her nieces and nephews and she will be greatly missed by long-time family friend, Mike Fraser.

Eleanor was a loving grandmother and mother. She loved cooking family meals. Her lasagna, meatballs, and stuffed peppers were second to none and she whipped up a killer deep-dish Dutch apple pie. During her 30 years of retirement, if she wasn’t in her garden, traveling, or playing games on her computer, you bet she could be found at the casino. Her fierce independence and strong will worked in her favor. She lived on her own for many years and remained in her condo until the day she passed away. Eleanor was very close to her sisters and brother, and she enjoyed spending time with her brother-in-law, Andy, and sister-in-law, Isabel. She had a kind heart and cared deeply about the welfare of others, even those she didn’t know. Although she was here for 92 years, it still does not feel like enough. We will miss her every day and remember her with a smile and warmth in our hearts.

Resting at Gilbert McIntyre and Son Funeral Home, Hart Chapel, 1099 Gordon St., Guelph, where the family will receive friends and relatives for visitation on Sunday, January 26, 2025, from 2:00 pm - 5:00 pm.
