We are sad to announce that Andy died suddenly and unexpectedly at his home on April 22, 2023. He was born in Guelph on May 12th, 1950 (appropriately on Mother’s Day). He is predeceased by his parents, Donald and Jean Friendship and by his brother-in-law Joseph Keller. He will be greatly missed by his brothers, Robert (Jennifer Caspers) and Bruce (Ann) and his sisters, Ruth Friendship-Keller and Joan Friendship-Gray (Alex Gray). Andy was a loving uncle to nieces Charlotte, Emma and Audrey Friendship and Martha Keller, to nephews Thomas Keller and Jacob Gray and a wonderful great-uncle to Rhys Feheley.
Andy was quiet and shy but also kind and generous. He cared strongly about the people in his life and would do anything to help them. Family and friends knew they could count on him. He loved playing and watching sports year-round, as well as board games. Crokinole and euchre were always part of family events and Andy was adept at both.
Andy farmed for most of his life, working with his brother Bruce. He enjoyed being outdoors, and in retirement maintained a large garden which he proudly shared through fresh produce and amazing preserves. He loved nature and possessed an encyclopedic knowledge of birds and plants. Visitors sitting on his front porch in the summer were almost certain to see quarrels break out among the hummingbirds visiting his feeders.
Sadly, with the emerging of wildflowers and the return of songbirds, this was his favorite time of year. He will be missed by humans and wildlife alike.
