On the evening of Wednesday, February 5, 2025, Janna Frielink (née Sterken) of Guelph quietly passed at the age of 89.
She is survived and lovingly remembered by her six children: Henriette (William Wilcox), Derrick, Alice (Brett Daw), Carolyn, Harry (Marianne), James (Christine). Also by ten grandchildren: Roeland and Raymond Daw, James and Aaron Wilcox, Isaiah (Jessi), Peter (Joy), Elissa and Reuben Frielink, Hailey and Sarah Frielink. As well as three siblings Henk, Jennie, and Hermien of The Netherlands.
Janna was predeceased by mere weeks by her husband of nearly 64 years, Hendrik Frielink. Also predeceased by her parents Dirk Sterken and Aaltje Sterken-Blik, and three siblings Arend, Aly, and Johan.
Janna was the first of seven children born to Dirk and Aaltje on July 1, 1935, in Staphorst, The Netherlands. She grew up on a family farm in the Maat, helping with farm work and the care of six younger siblings. That continued until she met Hendrik Frielink in 1959. Soon she followed Hendrik to Guelph in Canada, where she then worked as a care provider. She returned to The Netherlands in 1961 for her marriage to Hendrik, before establishing their Christian family home in Guelph where as a loving, caring, dedicated mother and wife she helped raise her family of six children, extending that love and dedication to the grandchildren of the next generation. Janna is dearly missed by family and friends.
