Anita (Antonia) Virgina (nee Pagnan) Fraser passed away peacefully surrounded by her children on Wednesday, January 15, 2025, at 92 years young. She is at peace and in good company, with the love of her life Archie (Archibald) Fraser and her siblings Leno, Lena, Bruno, Angelo, Mary, Tony, and Landa. She is survived by her sister Bruna.
Born in Dominion, Cape Breton, Nova Scotia on April 26, 1932 to parents Giuseppe Pagnan and Narcisa (nee Botter) Pagnan, Anita had a joy for life that was truly unmatched. Whether she was sipping on Crown Royal, cooking up a batch of risotto or spaghetti and meatballs, or baking pies for her family, Anita could always be found with a smile on her face – and usually in the kitchen.
At 18, Anita met the love of her life, Archie, at the Royal Bowling Alley in Guelph, where he was sitting on the windowsill whistling away. Over 55 years, they built a life at the “Old Ponderosa” on Stevenson Street that was centered around love, family, good food, and a door that was always open for anyone wanting to drop in for a coffee.
Loving Mom to Larry (Dorothy) Fraser, Joe (Claire) Fraser, Garry (Victoria) Fraser, Penny (Brett) Overbaugh, and Lisa Hurlock; Nona to Jennica (Mark), Neil, Sarah (Stefan), Joshua (Farah), Tara (Steve), Matthew, Rebekah (Naz), Lucas (Amy), Samantha (Alexander), Amara, Taylor, Karly, and Kandice (James); Great Nona to 18 great-grandchildren; and like a second Mom to Peter and Paul Valeriote – Anita was loved beyond measure.
Her family would like to extend their warmest and most heartfelt gratitude to all of the staff at Barnswallow Place Care Community in Elmira for taking such good care of her in her final years. A special thanks to Lori, John, Jennifer, Amanda, Lucy, and all the evening staff at Barnswallow for their love and care.
